PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Public Relations Unit was formally established on September 3, 2013 to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between the Service and its Publics. Prior to the creation of the unit, almost all Public Relations activities were being handled by the Ministry of Health Public Relations Unit.

OBJECTIVES
  • To provide credible and timely information about the Service’s activities.
  • Establish and maintain mutual relationship between NAS and its publics (the general public and employees and other agencies of M.O.H).
  • To ensure that policies, objectives, programmes and services of the agency are communicated to the public as demanded.

FUNCTIONS
  • The Unit is set up to ensure the proper planning of publicity strategies and campaigns for the serviceCo-ordinate the writing and producing presentations and press releases.
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public, the media and related organizations
  • Organizing promotional events such as press conferences, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits
  • Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations with approval by the Chief Executive Officer
  • Providing clients with information about new services and other activities and programmes been introduced by the service
  • Manage special events such as sponsorship of races, parties, introducing new services, and other activities the Service supports in order to gain public attention through the media without advertising directly.
  • Liaising with Divisional Directors and heads of department and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email.
  • Analyzing media coverage from events organized by the Service.
  • Take a lead role in designing, writing and /or producing presentations, press releases, articles, leaflets, ‘in-house’ journals, magazines, reports, publicity brochures, information for the Service web sites and promotional videos.
  • Lead in managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites of the Service.
