The first batch of 288 Emergency Medical Technicians

The first batch of 288 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) have passed out at the National Service (NAS) training school called Paramedics and Emergency Care Training School (PECTS) at Nkenkaasu in the Offinso North district of Ashanti region, after a year of intensive training.The passing out ceremony which was held on the September 6, 2016 also coincided with the official commissioning of the Training School, which started operations in November, 2013.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a term used to denote a healthcare provider of Emergency Medical Services. They are trained to give immediate care and often transport the sick or injured to medical facilities.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Alex Segbefia, who doubled as the reviewing officer of the passing out parade indicated that the government was committed to its vision of expanding the health sector and ensure that qualified professionals abound in the health sector, hence the establishment of the training school to train the needed Emergency Medical Technicians required by NAS.
