The Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations) of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. Patrick Inkoom-Colbelson, has paid a working visit to key NAS facilities in the Volta Region as part of Management’s nationwide efforts to strengthen emergency medical service delivery.
The visit formed part of an ongoing operational assessment exercise aimed at improving efficiency, readiness, and the overall quality of pre-hospital care across the country.
Engagement with Regional Management
Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson began his visit at the Volta Regional Administration, where he held a strategic meeting with regional management and staff. Discussions focused on operational challenges, staff welfare, logistics, and practical strategies to enhance emergency response within the region.
He also inspected the Regional Administration Block, which is earmarked for renovation, together with a team of engineers to assess the scope of works required. Commending the regional team for their dedication and resilience, he urged staff to continue upholding professionalism, teamwork, and excellence in service delivery.
Visit to Dispatch Centre
The Acting Deputy CEO later proceeded to the Regional Dispatch Centre, where he observed call-taking and dispatch operations firsthand. He assessed response coordination, communication systems, and data management processes, emphasizing the central role of dispatch in saving lives.
Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson encouraged dispatch officers to maintain speed, accuracy, and calmness in handling emergency calls, noting that every second counts in pre-hospital care.
Inspection of Workshop and Fleet
At the Regional Workshop, Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson inspected ambulances, tools, and maintenance equipment. He engaged workshop staff on vehicle maintenance schedules and challenges affecting fleet availability. He stressed the importance of timely and proper maintenance to ensure all ambulances remain roadworthy and fully ready for emergency response at all times.
Commitment to Improvement
The Deputy CEO expressed appreciation to all officers in the Volta Region for their hard work and dedication. He assured them of Management’s commitment to addressing the challenges identified during the visit and improving working conditions and operational capacity.
