The National Ambulance Service (NAS) ensured emergency medical preparedness at the Parliament of Ghana’s Democracy Cup on Friday, 28 August 2026, providing standby coverage for players, officials, supporters and spectators throughout the football spectacle.
The event featured a curtain-raiser between Parliamentarians and the Executive, followed by the much-anticipated main clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, attracting a large gathering of football enthusiasts.
Leading the NAS medical standby team was the Station Manager of the Stadium Ambulance Station, DCAEMT Janfaro Abdulai. Two ambulances from the Subin and Asawase Ambulance Stations were strategically deployed to provide emergency response and patient transportation throughout the event.
The operation was further strengthened through collaboration with key emergency and first-aid organizations, including the Ghana Red Cross Society, St. John Ambulance and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
With emergency personnel positioned and ready to respond, the coordinated deployment ensured that medical assistance could be provided promptly should any emergency arise.
The successful operation underscores NAS’s commitment to public safety, emergency preparedness and reliable prehospital care, particularly at major events that bring together large crowds.
