The Community Medical First Responders (CMFR) Training Programme, a collaborative initiative between the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), is progressing steadily at the Paramedic and Emergency Care Training School (PECTS), Nkenkaasu.
The programme officially commenced on Monday, 1st September 2025, following the successful arrival of trainees. The opening session featured a welcome address and a pre-test exercise to assess participants’ baseline knowledge. A total of 217 trainees took part in the initial activities.

Speaking on behalf of the NAS Acting Chief Executive Officer, Paramedic Najeeb Mohammed Mahama outlined the objectives of the training, emphasizing its role in equipping participants with critical lifesaving skills to strengthen emergency medical response in communities nationwide.
The initiative underscores the joint commitment of YEA and NAS to empowering Ghanaian youth with employable skills, while contributing to the enhancement of the country’s emergency healthcare system.
