On Tuesday, 17th March 2026, a fuel tanker en route to Winneba from Accra reportedly lost control at Potsin in the Central Region, skidded off the road, and was immediately engulfed in flames.
A distress call was received at the Kasoa Ambulance Station at 1002hrs, prompting a rapid response by a team led by Senior Intermediate EMT Nancy Dawu-Sosu, with support from Senior EMT Christian Zowuno and Community Medical First Responder (CMFR) Dickson Agbalenyo.
Upon arrival, the crew attended to six injured personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service. One officer who sustained burns to the head and arms was stabilized and transported to the Potsin Polyclinic for further treatment. The remaining five officers were treated on scene for smoke inhalation and minor injuries and were subsequently discharged.
No fatalities were recorded.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO, and the Ghana Police Service were present to manage the incident, with the fire successfully brought under control at approximately 1300hrs.
The National Ambulance Service commends the bravery and professionalism of its team, who operated under extremely hazardous conditions to deliver timely emergency care.
