A SAFER SHELTER FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE. A STRONGER COMMITMENT TO SAVING LIVES.
The National Ambulance Service (NAS), Sawla Ambulance Station in the Savannah Region, expresses profound appreciation to the Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency, Hon. Andrews Dari Chiwetey, for providing financial support towards the successful rehabilitation of the station’s Appliance Bay.
The facility suffered significant damage from successive rainstorms on March 1 and May 17, 2026, leaving emergency response vehicles and equipment exposed to harsh weather conditions and raising concerns about their protection and operational readiness.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, the Station Manager appealed to the MP for assistance. Hon. Chiwetey responded positively, providing the necessary financial support to restore the facility to good condition and provide improved shelter for the station’s emergency response appliances.
NAS also acknowledges the earlier intervention of the District Chief Executive, who supported the initial restoration following the first storm in March.
This intervention highlights the importance of collaboration between public service institutions and local leadership in addressing critical infrastructure needs. A well-maintained Appliance Bay is essential to protecting emergency vehicles, preserving valuable equipment and supporting operational readiness.
The National Ambulance Service remains committed to providing timely, professional and reliable prehospital emergency care to the people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and neighbouring communities.
Our mission remains clear: protecting emergency response capacity to help save lives.
