The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Ambulance Service, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has paid a working visit to Ho in the Volta Region to inspect ongoing renovation works for the new Regional NAS Office and Regional Dispatch Centre.
The facility, supported by The Hunger Project Ghana, is expected to be completed in 8 weeks. Once finished, the upgraded office and dispatch centre will improve coordination of prehospital emergency care for communities across Volta.
During the inspection, the CEO assessed progress on construction works and engaged the contractors and NAS regional management on timelines and quality assurance. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and the renovation standard.
The CEO also held discussions with officers of The Hunger Project Ghana. He thanked the organization for its timely support and commitment to improving emergency health infrastructure. He further called for expanded collaboration between NAS and development partners to scale up facilities, training, and equipment to enhance pre-hospital services nationwide.
“Completing this facility will give Volta Region a modern command centre for dispatch and administration. It directly supports our 2026-2030 strategy of building resilient systems so patients get care faster and closer to home,” the CEO stated.
The renovation of the Ho facility forms part of NAS’s broader infrastructure upgrade under its Policy Directions 2026-2030, aimed at decentralizing command structures and reducing response times across all 16 regions.
