NAS DELIVERS LIFE-SAVING EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING AT TAKORADI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The National Ambulance Service has provided emergency response training to students and staff of the Department of Allied Health at Takoradi Technical University, aimed at strengthening lifesaving skills and improving emergency preparedness.

The impactful training session, held on campus, brought together students, healthcare professionals, and emergency responders to bridge the gap between clinical diagnostics and emergency first response.

Facilitators from the Western Regional Administration of the Service delivered hands-on training on essential emergency care procedures including:

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) — techniques to restore breathing and circulation during cardiac emergencies

• Bleeding Control — effective methods to manage severe bleeding and prevent shock

• Choking Management — lifesaving interventions to relieve airway obstruction

Leading the training was DCAEMT Frank Manu, Western Regional Administrative Manager, who shared practical field experiences and professional insights drawn from emergency medical operations.

The initiative forms part of the National Ambulance Service’s continuous public education and stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at empowering communities with critical first aid knowledge.

The Service commends the Department of Allied Health of Takoradi Technical University for organizing this important programme and strengthening collaboration between healthcare training institutions and emergency response agencies.
