The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) has held its 2025 Annual Performance Review at the Eastern Regional Health Directorate Conference Room in Koforidua.
The two-day meeting, which began on March 26, brought together municipal and district managers, regional leadership, and key stakeholders to assess performance and set strategic priorities for the year ahead.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Pre-Hospital Health Care System through Collaboration, Engagement, and Partnerships to Enhance Operational Efficiency,” the review focused on evaluating achievements, identifying gaps, and strengthening operational systems across the region.
In his opening remarks, the Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Michael Dimongso Gaani, welcomed participants and commended them for their dedication during the year under review. He emphasized the need for critical reflection on both successes and challenges to improve service delivery. He further noted that the 22nd session would adopt a peer-to-peer review approach to foster collaboration and enhance leadership and operational capacity among Municipal and District officers.
DCAEMT Gaani also took participants through a capacity building aspect themed "Building Thriving, Effective, and Dynamic Team" which was avery inspiring session on how Leaders can build teams that will thrive in their various Ambulance stations.
The Regional Coordinator, Dr. Felix Boadi-Danquah, expressed his enthusiasm at participating in his first leadership meeting in the region. He described the review as a vital platform to assess performance, address operational challenges, and develop practical strategies to strengthen pre-hospital emergency care.
Also present was Paramedic Martin Amoah, Southern Zone Clinical Auditor, who commended the Regional Management for the invitation. He noted that his engagement would deepen understanding of the clinical audit process, improve documentation, enhance compliance, and support effective corrective actions across stations.
Dr. Addo Larbi, former Regional Medical Coordinator, also addressed participants, reflecting on the early days of the Service and its significant progress over the years. He commended staff for their commitment and urged them to uphold high standards of professionalism.
As part of the review process, Municipal and District Managers presented their annual performance reports, outlining key achievements, operational challenges, and proposed interventions to improve service delivery.
In his closing remarks, the Regional Medical Coordinator commended participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. He also applauded the Regional Management Team for the successful organization of the programme, assured participants of his continued support, and wished them safe travels back to their respective operational areas.
