The National Ambulance Service (NAS), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, held a strategic engagement on Tuesday with a delegation from the Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana (EMSOG) as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and enhance emergency medical systems across the country.
Dr. Owusu commended EMSOG for its dedication to fostering collaboration, networking, and strategic partnerships aimed at improving emergency care delivery within Ghana and the wider sub-region. He, however, emphasized the importance of inclusive stakeholder engagements — particularly the involvement of frontline paramedics, whose on-ground expertise is vital in shaping practical emergency medical policies and interventions.
The EMSOG delegation acknowledged the observation and offered an apology for the oversight, assuring NAS that future engagements will reflect broader professional representation.
The meeting concluded on a positive and collaborative note, with both institutions reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing Ghana’s emergency medical landscape.
As part of the engagement, Dr. Owusu presented a copy of the Community Medical First Responders Training Manual to Dr. Nana Afia Boateng, in recognition of her significant contribution to its development.
