The Ministry of Health has officially inaugurated a new 13-member Governing Board for the National Ambulance Service (NAS) at a brief but impactful ceremony held in the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra.
This marks only the second board to be constituted since the Service’s establishment, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening the strategic leadership and operational effectiveness of NAS across the country.
Delivering the keynote address, the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressed his firm belief in the board’s potential to support and guide the Service: “It is my fervent hope that the Board will provide the necessary support to NAS Management, working efficiently and effectively to improve emergency care services in the country.”
In a speech read on behalf of the newly appointed board members, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, the newly confirmed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NAS, expressed gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the Honourable Minister for Health for the trust placed in them:
“We are deeply honoured by this appointment and remain committed to supporting the Service in delivering lifesaving emergency medical care to all Ghanaians.”
The new board, made up of experienced professionals from various sectors, pledged to provide effective governance, policy direction, and strategic oversight to enhance the Service’s national operations.
With this development, the National Ambulance Service enters a new chapter of institutional growth and innovation, committed to advancing its mandate of providing timely, professional, and high-quality pre-hospital emergency care to the people of Ghana.
