NAS Leadership Undertakes Strategic Visit to National Dispatch Centre

On 30th September 2025, the National Ambulance Service (NAS) leadership paid a strategic working visit to the National Dispatch Centre in Accra as part of management’s efforts to strengthen collaboration, promote operational inclusivity, and gain deeper insight into key functional units under the directorate.

The delegation was led by the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Dr. Patrick Inkoom-Colbelson, accompanied by the Acting Director of Operations, Dr. Ali Baba Awini, and the newly appointed Head of the Fleet Unit, PAEMT Francis Nkebi Annan. The National Dispatch Centre is headed by PHT Matilda Nartey.

Engagement Highlights

Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson commended the unit for its pivotal nationwide role in coordinating emergency responses and encouraged the team to remain committed to excellence.

Dr. Awini emphasized the importance of gaining firsthand operational insight to guide informed and strategic leadership decisions.

PAEMT Annan reaffirmed his commitment as Fleet Manager to ensuring ambulances remain in optimal condition to support efficient dispatch operations.

In her remarks, PHT Matilda Nartey expressed appreciation to management for the visit, describing it as both inspiring and an honour. She outlined the core functions of the centre, which include coordination of all 16 regional dispatch centres and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the NAS headquarters. She also highlighted ongoing initiatives to enhance monitoring, training, and national communication systems.

Strengthening Operational Efficiency

In concluding the engagement, Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson clarified the mandate of the National Dispatch Centre, emphasizing its coordinating role in relation to the regional centres. He further recommended the creation of a dedicated monitoring and training team to boost operational efficiency nationwide.

The National Ambulance Service remains committed to empowering its operational units to deliver timely and professional pre-hospital emergency care to all Ghanaians.
