The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has entered into a strategic partnership with Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to provide dedicated emergency medical support during TOR’s ongoing turnaround maintenance exercise.
Given the high-risk and non-routine nature of such operations, NAS has deployed a five-member Emergency Medical Team (EMT) to the refinery to safeguard the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff throughout the period.
Deployed on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, the EMTs are tasked with:
• Delivering first-line medical care and advanced first aid
• Stabilizing patients on site
• Coordinating referrals and emergency evacuations when required
Beyond immediate response, the EMTs will also train selected TOR staff in basic first aid and emergency response, extending safety preparedness well beyond the maintenance exercise.
Representing NAS at the official commencement of duty was the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Patrick Inkoom-Colbelson, who reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening institutional collaborations that protect lives and promote workplace safety.
Other NAS officials present included Greater Accra Regional Administrative Manager, PAEMT Daniel Asare, and Head of Fleet, SAEMT Selorm Klutsey, who joined Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson in inspecting TOR’s facilities.
This collaboration highlights NAS’s mission to deliver timely, reliable, and professional emergency medical services, while supporting national institutions in maintaining resilience during critical operations.
