The National Ambulance Service (NAS) is providing continuous medical assistance and escort to Alhaji Ayana on his historic African Peace and Unity Walk from Accra, Ghana, to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The walk commenced on 10th October 2025 in Accra, with the NAS Greater Accra Regional team offering medical coverage up to the Ashanti Region. From there, support was smoothly transitioned to the Ashanti and Northern Regional teams, who ensured his safe progress northward. The Upper East Regional team has since taken over and is currently accompanying him across the border into Burkina Faso.
A dedicated team of five Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), led by AEMT Rexford Abilba, is presently with Alhaji Ayana deep within Burkina Faso as he advances toward the capital city, Ouagadougou.
Upon arrival, Alhaji Ayana is expected to meet with the military leader of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
