The National Ambulance Service (NAS), Greater Accra Region, is actively responding to a fire outbreak at the Duraplast Factory in Accra, working alongside other emergency service agencies to provide urgent pre-hospital care and support ongoing incident management efforts. The Accra City Ambulance Station was the first NAS team to arrive at the scene, with additional support from the Ridge and Stadium Ambulance Stations. In total, 18 personnel have been deployed to support the emergency response operation. During the incident, a poly tank fell on two casualties. Both individuals were promptly assessed, stabilised and transported by NAS personnel to Holy Trinity Hospital for further medical management. The ambulance teams also attended to a female casualty who collapsed at the scene. Following immediate assessment and treatment by NAS personnel, she regained consciousness. In addition, five other casualties who sustained minor burns and trauma-related injuries received on-site medical care. So far, a total of eight casualties have received medical attention from the National Ambulance Service. NAS remains on the ground, collaborating closely with partner emergency response agencies as firefighting and recovery efforts continue. The Service commends the professionalism and dedication of all responders working tirelessly to safeguard lives and property. The public is advised to keep access routes clear for emergency vehicles, avoid unnecessary movement within the affected area and comply with directives from emergency responders to facilitate efficient emergency operations. Further updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available.
