A road traffic accident involving a fully loaded Sprinter bus has left eleven passengers injured along the Sefwi Asafo–Sefwi Asawinso road in the Western North Region.
The bus, travelling from Kumasi to Osei Kwadwo-Krom, was involved in a crash that resulted in multiple casualties, with victims sustaining injuries ranging from head trauma and limb fractures to suspected spinal injuries.
Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs) were the first on the scene, swiftly rescuing the victims and transporting them to the St. John of God Hospital (SJoGH), Sefwi Asafo, where they received emergency care and stabilization.
Following a distress call from SJoGH to the Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre, the National Ambulance Service (NAS) in the Western North Region promptly deployed ambulances to facilitate onward referral. Five critically injured patients were subsequently transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for advanced medical care.
