NAS Trains National Petroleum Authority Staff on Basic Life Support

The National Ambulance Service (NAS), through its Training Unit and the Greater Accra Regional Administration, has organized a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training programme for staff of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

The training, held from 10th–11th September 2025 at the Moses Asaga Auditorium, NPA Headquarters in Accra, brought together over 90 staff members who were equipped with essential lifesaving techniques. Participants were taken through:

Speaking on behalf of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Mrs. Vanesa Kyei highlighted the Service’s steady growth, from its inception with just seven ambulance stations in 2004 to its current 296 stations nationwide. She emphasized NAS’s core mandate of providing pre-hospital emergency care, contributing to public safety, and responding to national disasters. She further reminded participants of the dedicated emergency number, 112, which remains the direct line to request an ambulance in times of need.

The training forms part of NAS’s broader outreach programme aimed at engaging communities and institutions with lifesaving knowledge. By equipping more citizens with basic first aid and emergency response skills, NAS is empowering the public to play a vital role in safeguarding lives before professional medical teams arrive.
