The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has successfully concluded its 2026 Equipment Training and Capacity Building Programme, equipping Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Middle Zone with enhanced practical skills in the use of critical emergency equipment.
Held over three days at Anita Hotel, Ejisu, the programme combined classroom-based sessions with hands-on practical demonstrations covering key areas including airway management and oxygen therapy, cardiac monitors and AEDs, IV medication administration, vital signs and patient assessment, trauma immobilisation, patient monitors and stretchers, specialised trauma equipment, and ambulance readiness and equipment checks.
At the closing ceremony, Board Chairman of NAS, Nana Baffuor Kotei Kutin Sraman II, commended the facilitators and participants for their commitment to the programme. He urged the EMTs to move beyond the classroom by putting the knowledge and skills acquired into daily practice to enhance the quality of emergency care delivered to patients.
The Lead Facilitator, Dr. Chris Oppong, also commended participants for their active engagement and encouraged them to continuously practise and apply the skills acquired.
The programme forms part of NAS’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the capacity of its emergency medical personnel, promoting equipment proficiency, and improving the delivery of quality prehospital emergency care.
