...Dagbon Overlord Pledges Full Support For Emergency Medical Services
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari II, at the historic Gbewaa Palace in Yendi as part of his ongoing working visit to the Northern Region.
Welcoming the NAS CEO and his delegation, the revered traditional ruler described the work of the National Ambulance Service as “a matter of life and death,” emphasizing the critical role the Service plays in responding to medical emergencies, accidents, and other health crises across the country.
Referencing the Service’s motto, “Timely Care Saves Lives,” the Yaa Naa noted that the statement represents a profound truth that resonates deeply with the people of Dagbon, as emergency medical intervention often becomes the vital bridge between despair and survival.
His Royal Majesty commended the NAS leadership for demonstrating respect to traditional authority through the courtesy call, stressing that chiefs and traditional leaders remain committed to the health, safety, and well-being of their people.
The Yaa Naa further pledged the full support and cooperation of the Gbewaa Palace and all traditional authorities within the Dagbon Kingdom towards strengthening community-based emergency response initiatives and expanding access to emergency medical care, particularly in remote and underserved communities.
“We encourage you to continue expanding your reach, ensuring that even the most remote communities in our region have access to timely emergency care,” the Overlord stated.
He also expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. George Kojo Owusu and wished him a successful tenure as CEO of the National Ambulance Service, while expressing hope that the visit would further deepen collaboration between NAS and the Dagbon Kingdom.
The visit forms part of the NAS CEO’s broader engagement with key stakeholders in the Northern Region aimed at strengthening partnerships and enhancing emergency medical service delivery across the country.
