A colourful passing-out ceremony was held on Friday, 24th October 2025, at the Paramedic and Emergency Care Training School (PECTS) in Nkenkaasu to officially graduate the second cohort of Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs) under the joint NAS–YEA emergency care initiative.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. George Kojo Owusu, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening pre-hospital emergency care nationwide. He announced that over 1,700 CMFRs have been trained under this cohort as part of efforts to enhance community-level first response capacity while creating meaningful employment opportunities for the youth.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sulemana Abdul Salam, Director of Technical Services at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Reviewing Officer for the ceremony, urged the trainees to uphold professionalism and operate strictly within their scope of practice. He further revealed that NAS and YEA will facilitate voluntary internships at nearby ambulance stations to help the graduates maintain their skills while awaiting deployment.
Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, District Chief Executive for Offinso North, commended the facilitators and trainees for their dedication throughout the four-week training and expressed appreciation to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for initiating this impactful national programme.
Representing the traditional authorities, Nana Boateng, Gyaasehene of Nkenkaasu, encouraged the graduates to serve with integrity and discipline, noting the importance of making a positive impact in their communities.
The ceremony featured an impressive parade and a medical simulation exercise, witnessed by dignitaries from NAS, YEA, traditional leadership, and the media — marking another significant milestone in Ghana’s emergency care and youth empowerment agenda.
