In the face of danger and uncertainty, courage, professionalism, and teamwork once again defined the National Ambulance Service (NAS) during the tragic three-storey building collapse at Accra Newtown.

The Service’s swift and coordinated response played a critical role in the rescue efforts. A total of 20 casualties were successfully rescued and transported to the 37 Military Hospital, Police Hospital, University of Ghana Medical Centre, and Mamobi Hospital for urgent medical care. Sadly, three lives were lost.
Driven by duty and an unwavering commitment to saving lives, EMTs and staff—both on duty and those who responded voluntarily—demonstrated exceptional dedication and sacrifice in the line of service.
The operation further highlighted the strength of the NAS rescue team and the importance of effective collaboration with sister agencies. Through seamless coordination and resilience, lives were saved under extremely challenging conditions.
This incident reinforces the critical importance of preparedness, unity, and rapid emergency response in safeguarding lives and communities.
Together, we save lives.
