Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) of the National Ambulance Service stationed at Suhum responded swiftly to a tragic fire outbreak involving a petrol tanker and multiple vehicles on the Accra–Nsawam Highway near Okanta in the early hours of Saturday, 14th February 2026.
Preliminary reports confirmed six fatalities and seven injured persons.
Upon arrival, the EMTs immediately commenced evacuation, triage, and safe transportation of casualties. All survivors were successfully stabilised and conveyed to the Nsawam Government Hospital for further medical management.
The rapid intervention underscores the dedication, bravery, and professionalism of NAS personnel in protecting lives during critical emergencies. NAS teams remain on standby to provide additional medical support and to assist partner emergency agencies in ongoing search and rescue operations.
