UPDATE: ACCRA NEW TOWN BUILDING COLLAPSE RESPONSE
The National Ambulance Service (NAS) provides an update on the emergency response to the four-storey building collapse at Accra New Town.
Following initial reports of multiple persons trapped, NAS swiftly deployed ambulances and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to the scene to support rescue and prehospital care efforts. Additional resources were subsequently mobilised to reinforce ongoing operations.
Through a coordinated multi-agency response, a total of 20 casualties have been successfully evacuated from the scene and transported to nearby health facilities for further medical attention.
Casualty Overview
A total of 23 persons have so far been affected by the incident, with 3 confirmed fatalities.
Medical Response & Patient Distribution
Patients have been conveyed to the following facilities:
• 37 Military Hospital – 9 patients
• Police Hospital – 7 patients
• Ga North Municipal Hospital (GaNuba) – 3 patients
• University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) – 1 patient
Further transfers are ongoing to ensure optimal care and effective case management.
Emergency teams remain actively engaged at the scene, working closely with partner agencies to support rescue efforts and account for all affected persons.
The public is advised to continue avoiding the area to allow emergency responders to operate efficiently.
NAS remains committed to delivering timely emergency medical care and will provide further updates as necessary.
