In an effort to strengthen community preparedness and promote lifesaving emergency response skills, the Asokwa Ambulance Station of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Ashanti Region, on Sunday, 6 September 2026, organised a Basic First Aid and Emergency Response education session for members of the Assemblies of God, Love Congregation, at Atonsu Dompoase.
The session, led by the Station Director, SAEMT Gyimah Boateng Samuel, was designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies before the arrival of professional medical assistance.
Combining both theoretical and hands-on training, the engagement introduced members to key aspects of ambulance operations, the management of choking emergencies, and the correct application of the recovery position. Through practical demonstrations, participants gained firsthand experience in carrying out simple but critical interventions that can help preserve life and prevent complications during emergency situations.
Speaking on behalf of the congregation, the Head Pastor, Rev. Isaac Oppku, expressed gratitude to the Asokwa Ambulance Station for bringing the educational programme directly to the church. He commended the team for the insightful presentations and practical demonstrations, noting that the knowledge acquired would be invaluable to members in responding to emergencies within their homes and communities. He further appealed to the station to organise similar engagements in the future to deepen public understanding of emergency care.
The community outreach forms part of the National Ambulance Service’s ongoing commitment to public education, community engagement, and emergency preparedness. By empowering individuals with basic first aid and emergency response skills, NAS continues to foster safer communities and strengthen the chain of survival across the country.
