The CEO of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has paid a working visit to the Dzolokpuita Ambulance Station in the Ho West Constituency of the Volta Region to assess its operational readiness and identify key challenges affecting emergency response.
Accompanied by the Volta Regional Administrative Manager, PAEMT Bright Manu, and his deputy, PAEMT Henry Mawugbe, the CEO engaged staff and assessed the station’s operational needs.
The visit comes shortly after the station received an ambulance through the support of the Member of Parliament for Ho West, Hon. Emmanuel Bedzrah, further strengthening emergency response capacity in the area.
Key issues identified included staff shortages and the need for additional logistics. While Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs) are helping to augment the station’s personnel strength, management acknowledged the need for further support.
Dr. (Med) Owusu assured the station of financial support to help address the identified challenges and improve its operational capacity.
The CEO also visited the District Director of Health Services, whose health facility is located close to the ambulance station. Discussions focused on reported communication gaps and measures to strengthen communication and referral coordination between the health facility and NAS.
The Officer-in-Charge of the station, AEMT Richard Abia, was also commended by the CEO for his efforts and presented with a token of appreciation as encouragement to continue his dedicated service.
The visit forms part of NAS Management’s continued efforts to strengthen emergency response operations and ensure that ambulance stations are adequately positioned to provide timely and effective pre-hospital care.
