The National Ambulance Service (NAS), Central Region, in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has engaged road users and transport operators in Cape Coast and Mankessim to promote road safety and improve public understanding of emergency medical services.
The two-day public education exercise, held at Tantri Lorry Station on 29 September and Mankessim Lorry Station on 1 October 2026, targeted commercial drivers, transport operators, passengers and other members of the public.
Led by DCAEMT Alice Aidoo, Deputy Regional Administrative Manager for Central Region, the NAS team demonstrated essential lifesaving skills, including basic life support for trauma patients, bleeding control and the recovery position for unconscious persons.
Participants were also educated on accident prevention, the role of NAS in providing timely emergency medical care and the importance of giving way to ambulances and other emergency vehicles to facilitate prompt response.
The collaboration underscores the shared responsibility of all road users in preventing road traffic accidents and supporting effective emergency response.
Through sustained public education and stakeholder collaboration, NAS continues to promote a road safety culture and strengthen public awareness of prehospital emergency care.
