The Board Chairman of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Nana Baffuor Kotei Kutin Sraman II, Bremahene, has urged Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to remain committed to their profession, pursue higher education and continuously strive for personal and professional growth.
He made the call during a working visit to the Achimota Ambulance Station, where he interacted with personnel, listened to their concerns and commended the station for its dedication to duty.
The Board Chairman particularly praised EMTs who responded to the recent multiple-vehicle road traffic accident at Ofankor, commending their professionalism and commitment to saving lives.
Addressing staff, Nana Baffuor Kotei Kutin Sraman II encouraged them not to compare themselves with personnel of other security services but to focus on their growth and development within the National Ambulance Service.
“Education has no end,” he noted, urging personnel to take advantage of opportunities for higher learning and self-improvement. He further challenged them to “pull themselves out of the ordinary and enter into the extraordinary.”
He also encouraged Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs) to remain dedicated to the Service while positioning themselves for future recruitment opportunities. Staff were advised to channel their concerns through the appropriate leadership structures and exercise patience as due processes are followed.
Touching on logistics, the Board Chairman reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening emergency medical services through the planned procurement of 100 new ambulances in 2027. He also highlighted the ongoing refurbishment of 30 ambulances recently handed over to National Security for reintegration into the NAS fleet.
As part of the visit, he inspected the new Achimota Ambulance Station facility constructed by the Municipal Assembly.
The Greater Accra Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Daniel Asare, expressed appreciation to the Board Chairman for his continued engagement with frontline personnel and his commitment to understanding and addressing their concerns.
The visit concluded with a strong message to EMTs to remain courageous, keep learning, stay focused and strive for excellence in the service of humanity.
