The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, as part of efforts to deepen relations with the Muslim community and strengthen collaboration in support of public safety and emergency healthcare.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mr. Yussif Kewura, included the Greater Accra Regional Administrative Manager, DCAEMT Daniel Asare, selected Station Managers and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
The engagement provided an opportunity for NAS to brief the National Chief Imam and his delegation on the mandate and operations of the Service, particularly its role in responding to emergencies, providing lifesaving pre-hospital care and transporting critically ill and injured persons to appropriate health facilities.
Mr. Kewura conveyed the intention of the Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, to pay a formal visit to the National Chief Imam and also sought his prayers and continued support for the CEO, Management and personnel of the Service.
The Deputy Director highlighted the demanding nature of emergency medical response and the importance of divine guidance, protection and support for personnel who work under challenging and time-sensitive conditions to save lives.
The visit also highlighted the important role of religious leaders and faith communities in promoting emergency preparedness, public education and the appropriate use of the national emergency number 112.
The engagement reaffirmed NAS’s commitment to building strong partnerships with key stakeholders and communities across Ghana in pursuit of its mandate of providing timely and quality emergency medical services.
