The Member of Parliament for Sene West, Hon. Kwame Ampofo Twumasi, in collaboration with the Sene West District Assembly, has presented a cheque valued at GH¢55,000 to support the repair of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) ambulance stationed at Kwame Danso.
The funds are earmarked for the procurement of a replacement engine for the ambulance, a move expected to enhance emergency medical response and improve access to pre-hospital emergency care for residents within the Sene West District and surrounding communities.
The presentation follows a working visit to the Bono East Region by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the National Ambulance Service, Dr. Patrick Inkoom-Colbelson, who was accompanied by the Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mr. Simmons Yussif Kewura.
During the working visit, the NAS delegation engaged with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the region on the need for stronger collaboration and local support to sustain ambulance operations and improve emergency response services.
The engagements encouraged the Assemblies to identify practical ways of supporting ambulance stations within their respective jurisdictions, particularly in the areas of vehicle maintenance, logistics and other operational requirements.
The cheque was received on behalf of the National Ambulance Service by IEMT Boakye Douglas, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kwame Danso Ambulance Station.
In a message following the presentation, the Sene West team expressed appreciation to the leadership of the National Ambulance Service for the impact of the DCEO's working visit to the Bono East Region.
The team specifically thanked the DCEO, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and the entire NAS delegation for engaging the Assemblies and highlighting the critical role of local government support in ensuring the continuous delivery of emergency medical services.
The financial support from the Sene West MP and the District Assembly is expected to facilitate the replacement of the ambulance engine and restore the Kwame Danso ambulance to full operational capacity.
The development underscores the importance of collaboration between the National Ambulance Service, Members of Parliament and local government authorities in strengthening Ghana's pre-hospital emergency care system.
The National Ambulance Service continues to encourage MMDAs, Members of Parliament, development partners, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to support emergency medical services as part of efforts to ensure timely access to life-saving care across the country.
