As part of efforts to maintain high standards of pre-hospital care, the Lawra Ambulance Station organized its Second Quarter Continuing Professional Development [CPD] session today at the Lawra Hospital Conference Hall.
The training brought together Emergency Medical Technicians and Community First Responders serving across the Lawra Municipality. The session was actively facilitated by PAEMT Nuatro Stephen, the Officer In Charge.
Four key clinical topics were treated to refresh and update the skills of personnel:
1. Basic Life Support – Focused on high-quality CPR and AED use
2. Long Bone Immobilization – Principles and field application for trauma care
3. Medical Patient Assessment – Systematic ABCDE approach and focused history taking
4. IV Cannulation– Safe technique and indications for ambulance care
Participants engaged in both theory and practical demonstrations to reinforce best practices in emergency care. The CPD forms part of the National Ambulance Service’s quarterly training mandate to ensure personnel remain competent and ready to respond to medical emergencies.
Speaking after the session, PAEMT Nuatro Stephen emphasized the importance of continuous training in reducing preventable deaths. “Our goal is simple: every patient in Lawra Municipality deserves skilled, confident care from the moment we arrive,” he stated.
The Lawra Ambulance Station continues to play a critical role in emergency response and referral services for communities within the municipality and beyond.
