The National Ambulance Service once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in emergency medical response and national event support by providing comprehensive medical cover and medical escort and standby coverage during the High-Level Consultative Conference on the Next Steps to the Landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans, held in Accra from 17th to 19th June 2026.
The prestigious international conference brought together Heads of State, government officials, diplomats, development partners, and distinguished delegates from across the world to deliberate on the implementation of the historic United Nations Resolution addressing the trafficking of enslaved Africans and its enduring impact on humanity.
As part of its operational mandate, the National Ambulance Service deployed highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), ambulances, and response teams to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants throughout the three-day event.
NAS teams provided dedicated medical cover at key venues, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, and the Christianborg Castle, where conference activities and high-level engagements took place. Ambulances and emergency response personnel remained on standby throughout the programme to respond promptly to any medical emergencies.
In addition to venue-based medical coverage, the Service provided medical escort and standby coverage for visiting Heads of State and other dignitaries throughout their stay in Ghana. Ambulances and EMTs accompanied official convoys and remained strategically positioned at designated accommodation facilities to ensure immediate emergency medical response whenever required.
The successful execution of these critical assignments highlights the National Ambulance Service’s growing role in supporting major national and international events through the provision of comprehensive emergency medical coverage, medical escort and standby services, and the maintenance of the highest standards of emergency preparedness and patient care.
The National Ambulance Service remains committed to its mission of delivering timely, professional, and life-saving emergency medical services while supporting national development and enhancing Ghana’s reputation as a preferred destination for international conferences and diplomatic engagements.
