The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has inspected the Service’s new Regional Head Office in Ho, Volta Region, ahead of its official handing-over ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
The inspection focused on improving the working environment, promoting proper facility identification, and strengthening community-level emergency response through capacity building and motivation of Community-based First Responders (CMFRs).
Dr. Owusu encouraged staff to cultivate and maintain green surroundings around the facility, underscoring the importance of a clean, serene, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
Attention was further drawn to the need for refresher training for CMFRs to reinforce their knowledge and practical skills in delivering timely initial assistance during emergencies. Such training remains important in sustaining community-level emergency response and strengthening the link between first responders and the formal emergency medical system.
In a move aimed at motivating community responders, Dr. Owusu encouraged hardworking and dedicated CMFRs to continue demonstrating commitment to their responsibilities, noting the prospect of recruitment into the National Ambulance Service when recruitment opportunities become available.
The visit highlights the Service’s broader commitment to improving its operational environment, strengthening its human resource capacity, and supporting community-based emergency response as part of its mandate to deliver timely and effective prehospital emergency care.
Through continued attention to infrastructure, staff development, and the contribution of community responders, the National Ambulance Service remains focused on advancing its mission of saving lives through timely emergency medical care.
