The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has paid a courtesy visit to Nana Sarfro Baah, Chief of Worawora, to express the Service’s appreciation for the support extended to the Worawora Ambulance Station. The visit underscored the importance of traditional leadership and community partnerships in strengthening prehospital emergency care and ensuring timely access to emergency medical services. As part of the visit, the CEO presented schnapps and a cash donation to the Chief in recognition of the community’s festival celebration, further deepening the cordial relationship between NAS and the traditional authority. Dr. Owusu reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to working closely with the community and assured the Chief that, when recruitment opens, consideration would be given to recruiting some youth from the area, subject to the applicable recruitment requirements. The CEO also outlined key interventions aimed at improving emergency response and patient care, including equipping ambulances with additional medical equipment and introducing new, advanced ambulances to enhance service delivery. He further highlighted the Integrated Bed Management System, which is expected to help Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) identify appropriate health facilities with available beds before transferring patients. The system is intended to reduce delays and address the challenge of patients being moved between facilities because of bed unavailability, commonly referred to as the “No Bed Syndrome.” In a gesture of appreciation, the Worawora community presented citations to the CEO and the Director of Finance (DOF), Mr. Victor Cofie, acknowledging their contributions and engagement with the community.
