The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has joined key national stakeholders in a full-scale emergency simulation exercise organised by Ghana Airports Company Limited at the Accra International Airport, to test emergency preparedness and strengthen coordinated responses to potential aviation disasters. During the exercise, NAS emergency medical crews demonstrated professionalism, speed and precision in responding to simulated mass-casualty situations, highlighting the critical role of pre-hospital emergency care in managing aviation-related emergencies and safeguarding lives. The exercise provided an opportunity to assess response times, evaluate existing emergency plans, identify operational gaps and determine areas for improvement through objective, evidence-based observations. The findings will help stakeholders refine their emergency response arrangements and strengthen collaboration across participating agencies. The multi-agency exercise brought together key institutions, including the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB), the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Interior, intelligence and defence agencies, the Board of Airline Representatives, aviation security personnel, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and other emergency response partners. For NAS, participation in such exercises reinforces its commitment to operational readiness, effective emergency medical response and seamless collaboration with partner institutions. Because when emergencies strike, preparedness, coordination and every second count.
