The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has strengthened its frontline emergency response capacity as selected Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) successfully participated in the G4 Alliance Prehospital Trauma Skills and Leadership Course at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The intensive training focused on sharpening trauma management, strengthening team communication and developing effective leadership during emergencies. Through practical simulations, participants enhanced their skills in airway management, spinal protection, musculoskeletal injury care and haemorrhagic shock management, with emphasis on improving prehospital stabilisation and patient outcomes. Dr. Sam Johnson, representing the Institute of Global Perioperative Care (IGPC) and the G4 Alliance, announced that the training would be organised annually to strengthen the country’s emergency care system. He expressed appreciation to the international partners, including the University of Maryland School of Medicine, University of Chicago Medicine and Cook County Trauma Unit, for their collaboration. He also acknowledged the support of NAS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, and Deputy Director for Training and Development, Fati M. Salifu.
