The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. Patrick Inkoom-Colbelson, has commenced the final leg of his three-regional monitoring tour across the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions, beginning with a visit to the Ahafo Region.
As part of the tour, Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson met with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) stationed at Duayaw Nkwanta, Bechem, Hwidiem, and Goaso. The engagements provided an opportunity for the DCEO to interact directly with operational staff, assess their working conditions, and discuss challenges confronting ambulance operations within the region.
At Bechem, the DCEO inspected an ongoing office construction project for the National Ambulance Service being undertaken by the Tano South Municipal Assembly. He commended the Assembly for its support towards improving the working environment of NAS personnel and enhancing emergency medical services delivery in the municipality.
Following the engagement with EMTs, Dr. Inkoom-Colbelson and his team paid a courtesy call on Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South, to express the Service's appreciation for the construction of the office facility. He further appealed for sustained support for NAS to enable it to effectively carry out its life-saving mandate.
Mr. Frimpong assured the NAS leadership of his continued support, emphasizing the indispensable role the Ambulance Service plays in safeguarding lives within the municipality.
“The contribution of the National Ambulance Service to healthcare delivery and emergency response in our municipality cannot be underestimated. My office will continue to support the Service whenever the need arises,” he stated.
The MCE also disclosed that the Municipal Officer-in-Charge of the National Ambulance Service has been incorporated into the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between emergency response agencies and enhancing emergency preparedness within the municipality.
The DCEO's entourage included Mr. Simmons Yussif Kewura, Deputy Director of Public Relations; DCAEMT Francis Nkebi; DCAEMT Prince Owusu Achena, Deputy Regional Administrative Manager for Ahafo; DCAEMT Ibrahim Yobo, Deputy Regional Administrative Manager; and DCAEMT Karkari, Officer-in-Charge of the Bechem Ambulance Station.
The monitoring tour forms part of management's efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, improve staff welfare, and deepen stakeholder engagement across the National Ambulance Service.
