Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region have received hands-on training on the effective use of medical equipment onboard a newly donated ambulance to the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
The training, which took place at Wassa Akropong—the municipal capital—forms part of ongoing efforts to equip EMTs with the necessary skills to deliver prompt and quality pre-hospital emergency care.
The session was led by Paramedic Sampson Donkor, Acting Head of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), who guided participants through the operation and maintenance of critical equipment installed in the ambulance, including life-saving devices essential for stabilizing patients during emergencies.
He emphasized the importance of proper handling and routine checks of the equipment to ensure constant operational readiness. According to him, the effective use of onboard equipment significantly improves patient outcomes and enhances the overall efficiency of emergency response services.
The EMTs expressed appreciation for the practical training, noting that it has strengthened their confidence and preparedness to respond to a wide range of emergency situations within the municipality and beyond.
The initiative highlights the National Ambulance Service’s commitment to continuous capacity building and ensuring that personnel are adequately trained to maximize the use of available resources for improved healthcare delivery.
