On Monday, 4th May 2026, the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Ashanti Region, through the Agona Ambulance Station, organized a public education exercise for workers of Sky Roofing System at Jamasi.
The training was led by DCAEMT Amoako Prince Ayim, OIC of Agona Ambulance Station, as part of ongoing community outreach efforts to promote first aid awareness and improve emergency response at the grassroots level.
The session covered:
• Basic Life Support (BLS): Assessment of an unconscious patient and introduction to CPR
• Bleeding control: Use of direct pressure, bandaging, and prevention of shock
• Choking management: Heimlich manoeuvre using abdominal thrusts
• Recovery position: Proper positioning of an unconscious or fainted patient
• Other essential first aid interventions relevant to workplace emergencies
Participants were actively engaged in both theoretical and practical demonstrations, with hands-on practice sessions to enhance understanding and retention of the skills taught.
The training was interactive and impactful, significantly improving the workers’ confidence in responding to emergencies before the arrival of professional responders.
At the end of the session, participants were encouraged to act as First Aid Ambassadors by sharing the knowledge gained with their families, friends, and community members to strengthen emergency preparedness at the community level.
Workers of Sky Roofing System expressed appreciation to the NAS team for the initiative and practical training. The exercise forms part of the National Ambulance Service’s commitment to public education and improving pre-hospital care across communities in the Ashanti Region.
