The National Ambulance Service (NAS), in strategic collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces Health Services (GAFHS), has officially commenced training for the fifth batch of Military Emergency Medical Technicians (MEMTs).
This milestone initiative underscores a strengthened partnership aimed at enhancing pre-hospital emergency care and advancing rapid response capacity.
The intensive training programme, led by personnel from the NAS Training & Development Unit, focuses on advanced pre-hospital lifesaving interventions, trauma management, and coordinated emergency response systems. Through structured practical and theoretical modules, participants are being equipped with the critical competencies required to operate efficiently in high-risk and complex emergency environments.
This collaboration is strategically designed to:
• Strengthen emergency medical capacity within the Ghana Armed Forces
• Improve casualty survival outcomes in operational and non-operational settings
• Promote standardized emergency medical protocols nationwide
• Reinforce Ghana’s readiness for international peace support operations
Upon completion, trained MEMTs will be deployed to key facilities including the 37 Military Hospital, medical reception stations, and selected international missions- further integrating military medical services into Ghana’s broader national emergency response framework.
The NAS–GAFHS partnership continues to set a benchmark for inter-agency collaboration, professionalism, and the advancement of emergency medical services across Ghana.
Together, we build capacity. Together, we save lives.
