As part of efforts to enhance public safety and promote a culture of emergency preparedness, the Volta Regional Command of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), on Monday, 21st July 2025, organized a capacity-building engagement for commercial drivers at the Ho Main Lorry Station. The initiative formed part of the DVLA’s National Community Outreach Programme.
Key stakeholders present at the event included the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service, reflecting a unified inter-agency commitment to road safety and emergency response.
Participants received hands-on training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, and safe moving and lifting techniques. In addition, the drivers were educated on the operational framework of the National Ambulance Service and the critical role it plays in pre-hospital emergency care.
The engagement not only deepened the drivers’ understanding of emergency protocols but also strengthened public trust and collaboration with emergency services. Many of the drivers expressed their appreciation, noting that such initiatives are crucial in fostering a safer and more responsive transport environment.
