On Wednesday, 1st October 2025, the Western North Regional Administration of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), led by PAEMT James Hackman, the Acting Regional Administrative Manager, paid a courtesy visit to the Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Council to seek their support in enhancing emergency medical services within the traditional area.
During the engagement, several key issues were discussed:
• Land Ownership: NAS appealed for the provision of official land allocation documents to enable formal ownership of the land currently occupied by the Service. This will allow NAS to embark on developmental projects and prevent possible relocation of the regional office.
• Oxygen Cylinder Deficit: The region currently operates with only 20 oxygen cylinders out of the required 120, creating a deficit of 100 cylinders and affecting pre-hospital care delivery.
• Office Accommodation: The newly established Ambulance Station in Sefwi Bekwai urgently requires at least two office spaces at the Old Sefwi Bekwai Clinic to enable full 24-hour operations.
• Construction of Parking Bay: The Council’s support was also sought for the construction of a parking bay to ensure the safety and security of the ambulance, equipment, and medical supplies.
The meeting reaffirmed NAS’s commitment to partnering with traditional authorities to improve emergency response across the Western North Region. The Service expressed appreciation to Nananom for their continuous cooperation and pledged to work closely with them in strengthening emergency medical systems to save more lives.
