The National Ambulance Service (NAS) once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives by providing comprehensive medical cover at the Accra International Airport for 345 Ghanaian nationals who arrived from South Africa on Saturday, 6th June 2026.
As part of efforts to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of the returning citizens, NAS deployed emergency medical teams and ambulances to the airport to provide immediate medical support and respond swiftly to any emergencies upon arrival.
During the operation, some passengers reported feeling unwell after the long journey. The highly skilled Emergency Medical Technicians promptly assessed and attended to the affected individuals. Two passengers who required further medical attention were safely transported to the 37 Military Hospital for continued management, while two other passengers were assisted from the aircraft to the Port Health Unit for further assessment and care.
The exercise underscored the readiness, professionalism, and dedication of NAS personnel in delivering quality pre-hospital emergency care under all circumstances. Through effective coordination and rapid response, the teams ensured that travelers requiring medical attention received timely and appropriate care.
The National Ambulance Service remains steadfast in its mandate to provide efficient emergency medical services and protect lives across Ghana. We commend all stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful execution of this operation and reaffirm our readiness to serve the nation whenever duty calls.
