Dormaa East Municipality, with Wamfie as its administrative capital, is one of the twelve districts in the Bono Region of Ghana. The constituency had been without an operational ambulance since 18th July 2025, following a mechanical breakdown during an emergency response.
In a deliberate effort to recommission the ambulance and restore full operational readiness, the Regional Education Team (RET), led by the Regional Manager, DCAEMT Alfred K. Amoah, together with his deputy, DCAEMT Eric Mills, and a team of officers, conducted comprehensive hands-on practical training sessions at the station.
The training brought together twenty-one (21) participants, comprising Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) of various ranks and Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs).
The sessions focused on strengthening both clinical and operational competencies, including:
* Stretcher (stipple chase) drills to enhance equipment readiness and scene efficiency
* Ambulance equipment familiarisation and oxygen therapy
* Patient immobilisation techniques
* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) application
* Patient assessment (trauma and medical emergencies)
* Documentation procedures, including PIMPS and occurrence reporting systems
In his closing remarks, the Regional Manager, DCAEMT Alfred K. Amoah, urged all participants and, by extension, all EMS providers in the region to prioritise prompt response to emergencies. He further emphasized the importance of ensuring that all drivers maintain valid licenses at all times to prevent avoidable operational and safety risks.
