The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has paid a courtesy call on the National Ambulance Service (NAS) to deepen collaboration and enhance coordinated emergency response across the country.
Held at the NAS Conference Room in Accra, the meeting brought together leadership from both institutions to align efforts within Ghana’s emergency and security space.
Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, described the visit as timely, stressing the need for proactive inter-agency planning.
Director-General of NADMO, Maj. (Rtd) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, highlighted key focus areas:

Strengthening collaboration for rapid emergency response

Organizing joint simulation exercises to boost preparedness
NAS reaffirmed its readiness, citing the deployment of 6,000 Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs) nationwide to improve community-level emergency care.
Key takeaways from the engagement:
• Joint simulation exercises to enhance readiness
• Strengthened communication systems for better coordination
• Expansion of trained disaster volunteers across the country
• Plans to train 11,000 volunteers at the Asutuare Training School
• Revival of Disaster Management Committees at the grassroots level
In a forward-looking move, NAS also proposed the automation and segmentation of the 112 emergency number to ensure faster, more direct access to the right emergency services.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward a more responsive, efficient, and life-saving emergency system in Ghana.
