Personnel from the National Ambulance Service’s Circle Ambulance Station demonstrated professionalism and rapid emergency response following a serious road traffic accident near Tesano Baptist Church, close to the Shell Filling Station opposite Peace FM in Accra.
The emergency call was received by the Dispatch Center at exactly 08:48 hours, prompting the immediate dispatch of an ambulance crew at 08:50 hours. The team arrived swiftly at the scene at 09:10 hours to find the victim, a motorcyclist, lying helplessly by the roadside with visible traumatic injuries.
Initial assessment by the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) revealed a deep laceration to the upper lip and a severe fracture involving the left lower limb, later confirmed as a fractured femur.
The NAS crew immediately initiated critical pre-hospital trauma care at the scene. The fractured limb was immobilized with a splint, cervical spine protection was ensured with the application of a cervical collar, and intravenous access was secured while fluids were administered to stabilize the patient before transport.
Following successful on-scene stabilization, the victim was safely conveyed to the Police Hospital for advanced medical care and handed over to hospital authorities together with a detailed pre-hospital emergency care report.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicated that the motorcyclist allegedly crossed a red traffic signal and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The National Ambulance Service continues to urge all road users to strictly observe traffic regulations to help prevent avoidable accidents and save lives.
