The National Ambulance Service (NAS) in the Western North Region has organized a zonal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for 31 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) drawn from Bibiani, Sefwi Wiawso, Sefwi Bekwai, and the Regional Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre.
The training focused on key areas including Patient Care Management, Pre-Hospital Care Documentation, and Medico-Legal Issues in Emergency Medical Services.
According to DCAEMT James Hackman, Acting Regional Administrative Manager for the Western North Region, the exercise forms part of the region’s 2026 Action Plan aimed at enhancing the quality of pre-hospital emergency care delivery.
He commended staff for their dedication to saving lives despite the logistical constraints faced by the region, noting that the unwavering commitment of EMTs has contributed to significant operational gains.
DCAEMT Hackman disclosed that the region responded to 648 emergency cases in 2025, compared to 541 cases recorded in 2024. He described the increase as a historic improvement since the establishment of the Service in the region in 2020, attributing the achievement to the professionalism and resilience of staff.
He added that the Service remains committed to strengthening capacity-building initiatives to sustain and further improve patient outcomes.
